I remember a friend and I collected Star Wars cards as a kid. We were looking at the C3P0 card and it looked like he had a big gold shaft. We kept looking at it trying to figure out what it was, but it only looked like one thing.

I found out some time later online that it was a limited card and a disgruntled artist had slipped it past the editors somehow. Wish I had saved it, I'm sure it's worth some cash.

LOL, nice one.

In my university years a friend of mine got kicked out for being a
lazy arse. In retaliation, the guy hacked the university webpage and
for a couple of hours you could see photoshop'd pics of the Dean
wearing dresses and his face replacing a guy taking it from the rear.

Hilarious. I 'print screen' the thing as soon as the word spread.

Yeah, that's the card pretty much... I remember it a tad different looking, but we're talking more than 30 years ago.

I wonder why it's status is not TRUE, they must have had access to the card to prove it. I can't imagine everyone in the world is like me and left their cards outside in the rain or got bored and burned them.

I think they're saying that it's true the card did exist, but it's undetermined whether it was the result of a disgruntled artist or a "trick of light" as Topps later claimed.

Either way. Good stuff.
