They weren't handguns, they were long-barrelled rifles. They were registered as game-shooting guns in the father's name. The son was a known IS supporter and our 1996 gun laws didn't include checks on familial connections. In 1996 multiple shooters were psychopathic individuals. Now our authorities are planning to extend the laws to account for fanatic groups, because even in peaceful Australia they exist now.
I was shocked and saddened to hear about the shooting's as Australia has some of toughest gun laws in the world, and one of the safest places to visit. I don't know what more can be done. If some deranged person or persons want to do harm it shows even the toughest gun laws will not stop them. My Condolences to al the families effected.

In the case of the Israel, the Arabs have always been hostile to the Jews. They made it clear there will be no Jewish state in the land of Palestine. Since it cannot be resolved then the only option is war, and may the best man win, and of course women and children die as well, just as how Palestinian Arabs kill Jewish women and children.
