Would that be an interesting and heated topic of discussion?
Italy are maybe the best team in world football.
How many Italian players play outside of Italy?

Spain are consistently the biggest underachievers in world football.

Diego Forlan is one of the best Strikers in La Liga - ROFL................

All the best Spanish footballers are leaving Spain.
All the best Italian footballers are staying in Italy.
All the best English footballers are staying in England.

We now have Capello as England manager.
Lets see what happens........................

I foresee fantastic results for England with Capello as coach.

Not kidding. I can bet on it.

If you are serious I agree with you.

Capello will build a 1-5-4-1 formation around Rooney.

Terry and Ferdinand in defense.

He may even persuade Scholes to return to England, if he manages that England have a real chance.

Capello will make England very hard to break down and we will keep the ball very well.

We will not be a spectacula team, but with players like Rooney and Gerrard we have the players that can steal wins.

I see England as a major force in 2 years time.

Look, as a Real Madrid fan, after 3 years of no titles I was one of
those who said "screw the show, get the title" and I was sad when he
was sacked.

For a very simple reason: I love entertaining footie, of course, but
when it is about my team, the titles are the ones building history. In
10 or 20 years nobody will remember how this or the other one
played, but how many cups are resting in the club's shelf.

Now, let's be honest, Bern Schuster can shut my mouth, keep playing
nice (nicer than Capello at least) and win titles, but the context is
different, of course.

I see England a little bit like the Real Madrid before Capello. Hence,
he was the best choice. I'm glad no local was chosen nor Mourinho
or Klinsman.

I agree with you and that is why I think Capello is great for England.

Its great to watch attractive football.
Mancester United use to play with the attitude if you score 4, we will score 5.

Well Ronaldo scored a hattrick for Real Madrid and Madrid got beat 4-5 in the 2nd leg in 2003 of the CL.
But Madrid won 3-1 at home so Madrid qualified for the final and won it.

Capello will get the best out of the talent available in English football and I think we will do well.
He is paid to get results and he gets them.
He drops players who do not play for the team to get a team result and that is what England need.

If Gerrard doesn't perform for Capello he will be dropped.
Thats what we need.

Its going to be very interesting to see how Capello changes the English team.

I am particularly interested in how he will manage the egos.

It was a shocker at Real when he sat Becks. And then got him back.

Question is: Will he call him now?

That is a really interesting question.

In my opinion he can't start with Beckham.
Beckham is finished.

He has to give him his 100'th cap though.
So the only way out for Capello is to bring Beckham on with 10 minutes to go and give him the England captancy for the last 10 minutes.

Has Capello got the guts to not start with Beckham?
I think he has, but we will see.

Honest question...

Do you really think Beckham is totally burnt?

I mean, the leg still is one of the most educated ones in the world.

What facts should I "weap" about?

That we buy and sell with huge profits?
That we have an amazing (the best?) ratio of European silverware/budget?

All those things make me proud. And here's the main fact you can weep about:

We have more UEFA/FIFA silverware than you. If you have a low opinion of Porto, then it must be pretty sad for you to accept that.

You guys are lucky that the Chivas of Guadalajara (Mexico) don't play in Europe.

You seem confused. First you say that the Premier League get the best foreign players because of money.

"What you say only tells me something, mate

££££££££££ "

But then you say that the reason why English players stay in England (which you admit is the strongest league) is because they aren't good enough for other leagues????

Tell me, in what other country would John Terry get £130,000 per week?

England under Erikkson were poor as well. This wasn't the manager's fault. The main problem is that Gerrard and Lampard don't want to start off play, they just want to get on the end of things or get assists, which means that when they do get possesion in their own half, they're looking for the killer long ball.

I think the main change that Capello will bring to the national team is the strength of character to drop one of those players, and get somebody in who is prepared to play the simple balls and retain possession.

Scholes is the type of player I was referring to, but if Capello gets Scholes out of retirement, than I'd be prepared to state publically that the Portuguese league isn't a distinctly mediocre, practically amateur league.

It ain't going to happen.

Yeah, it is a tricky one, because it's hard to argue strong in any side:
Do they stay because nobody wants them outside or because they will
never get the cash outside, even if offered?

Maybe a combination of the two? Who knows.

And about Gerrard and Lampard, that is the diva problem. And indeed
is why I am happy Capello was hired. Discipline. Football is not rocket
science but pure psichology (???), I think, so Capello can impose
discipline he has it done. Or at least I hope so.

Edit. And I think the English player is not gifted in the way the
Argentinian or Portuguese player is, but it is strong and disciplined.
Those are the strengths IMO, and that is what Capello will concentrate
on making flourish again.

I like Porto.
We need feeder clubs that attract and develop promising players like Anderson.
Your like Sporting Lisbon, another useful feeder club.

You can't possibly think Porto are a BIG club.
I mean, BIG SELLING CLUB and good European club.

When people talk about European Giants the list is in 4 sections:-
You're talking about world fan base, revenue, history, famous players, ability.

Tier 1 - The Gods
- Manchester United
- Real Madrid

Tier 2 - The Power houses of World Football
- AC Milan
- Juventus
- Barcelona
- Byern Munich

Tier 3 - Big clubs, big history but ultimately the ugly bridesmaids
- Arsenal
- Inter Milan
- Liverpool

Tier 4 - The make weights
- Chelsea
- Porto
- Lyon
- Roma
- Valencia
- Ajax
etc......

Whatever.

One of your "Gods" has less trophies than one of the make-weights. Manchester are not between the "Gods" and are much below AC Milan in terms of history, famous players and ability (and CL champions, despite needing a re-structure this year).

What Manchester United has is a big fan base. Which is based purely on marketing and little success. This is why so many MU fans are plastic and know very little about football beyond the tv. Marketing mostly works in convincing those two types.

You're the Pepsi Club. Made BIG by the strength of advertising alone.
