Look, as a Real Madrid fan, after 3 years of no titles I was one of
those who said "screw the show, get the title" and I was sad when he
was sacked.
For a very simple reason: I love entertaining footie, of course, but
when it is about my team, the titles are the ones building history. In
10 or 20 years nobody will remember how this or the other one
played, but how many cups are resting in the club's shelf.
Now, let's be honest, Bern Schuster can shut my mouth, keep playing
nice (nicer than Capello at least) and win titles, but the context is
different, of course.
I see England a little bit like the Real Madrid before Capello. Hence,
he was the best choice. I'm glad no local was chosen nor Mourinho
or Klinsman.
I agree with you and that is why I think Capello is great for England.

Well Ronaldo scored a hattrick for Real Madrid and Madrid got beat 4-5 in the 2nd leg in 2003 of the CL.
But Madrid won 3-1 at home so Madrid qualified for the final and won it.
Capello will get the best out of the talent available in English football and I think we will do well.
He is paid to get results and he gets them.
He drops players who do not play for the team to get a team result and that is what England need.
If Gerrard doesn't perform for Capello he will be dropped.
Thats what we need.
Its going to be very interesting to see how Capello changes the English team.

England under Erikkson were poor as well. This wasn't the manager's fault. The main problem is that Gerrard and Lampard don't want to start off play, they just want to get on the end of things or get assists, which means that when they do get possesion in their own half, they're looking for the killer long ball.
I think the main change that Capello will bring to the national team is the strength of character to drop one of those players, and get somebody in who is prepared to play the simple balls and retain possession.

Do they stay because nobody wants them outside or because they will
never get the cash outside, even if offered?
Maybe a combination of the two? Who knows.
And about Gerrard and Lampard, that is the diva problem. And indeed
is why I am happy Capello was hired. Discipline. Football is not rocket
science but pure psichology (???), I think, so Capello can impose
discipline he has it done. Or at least I hope so.
Edit. And I think the English player is not gifted in the way the
Argentinian or Portuguese player is, but it is strong and disciplined.
Those are the strengths IMO, and that is what Capello will concentrate
on making flourish again.

One of your "Gods" has less trophies than one of the make-weights. Manchester are not between the "Gods" and are much below AC Milan in terms of history, famous players and ability (and CL champions, despite needing a re-structure this year).
What Manchester United has is a big fan base. Which is based purely on marketing and little success. This is why so many MU fans are plastic and know very little about football beyond the tv. Marketing mostly works in convincing those two types.
