Well, that is what some users would like you to think, and they've painted their lies pretty well. My forum has been attacked the most, and here is how I feel it happened.
Some users might post something that one of my members does not agree with, and they say so. Another member of my clan comes in also not agreeing. People lose site of the fact there are also other members of the forum who don't agree, but some users at RHP will have you think that my forum cooked up some idea for all of us to come in and start knocking heads.
They never consider the situations where one user of my clan comes in and starts knocking heads, and another member of my clan comes in and does not agree.
You don't come to my private forum and see where they start slugging it out. I have endless threads where members of my clan call each other out and start having a real forum battle over a topic out in general. I've even had members get so upset with another member and leave the clan for either a short time, or forever sometimes.
We save the public forums from our heated battles by keeping some of our topics right in the private clan so you don't see us fighting in public. We are free to speak our mind with no fear of our posts being erased, but some users here will have you think we are some kind of a buddy-buddy clan always working together to gang up on users.... and it's just not true.
Some users here will have the other users believe we pass recs onto each other just to boost our rec counts, but the is also false. Many of us had near a thousand if not 4 or 500. Some had 300 or less. If we were recing each other unlimited all the time we'd have numbers near 10's of thousands. Remember when Seredipity got near 300 from 2 or 3 users in 3 days? Remember when Bowmann got about a thousand in a week or 3 from one single user? Do the math, it's silly to think we were recing each other nilly-willy... and I know there are users who are not in our clan that were also giving recs to some of us members.
We are all avid forum posters, and a lot less 'like minded' than some users would have you believe. Private forums are a place for us to speak our minds and stay away from trolls and spam masters and talk about topics not suitable for the public forums.
Here and there you might see 7 or so of us in a single thread, but really how often is that? We do not make plans to attack an idea in groups like some would have you think. We actually save our topics for the private forums where other clans bring their ideas into the general forums and force their ideas on the general public of RHP.
These are just a few of my thoughts after reading about Dottwell leaving the site... and how some users now believe my clan somehow is some sort of cancer on the site. I hope you read my words over and have some understanding, we've been painted in a negative light by some users and most of their concerns are unfounded for sure.
The problem is when these private forum clans don't use their private forums and post their ideas into the public forums when they could just as easily saved their threads for their private forums. That is what my clan does for the most part... sans the once in a while thread like Pony Parade or thread in clans where we share a new clan name or something else we feel is entertaining.
Ok, haters... wind em up... I know you've got a grudge over something that happened once that you just won't let go... but remember you don't know what was going on in private at the same time, and I assure you it was probably us fighting each other over what happened more than it was us giving each other hi-fives.

Some users have turned us into a big bully clan that thinks alike and goes around pounding on users. There are members here at RHP not in my clan who agree with the same things, but my clan gets blamed anyway.

I have had my fair share of spats with people here and there and am in no way innocent of treating people less well than I should from time to time. However, I also like to think I have given a lot to this site over the years. My near 1000 recs were gained over 3 years of posting at a fairly uniform rate and because until recently I was one of the most prolific posters on this site. I have designed board pieces, I started the word association game (to my shame, but people still seem to enjoy it) and I created RHP Faces. It is unfair to be labelled as part of some evil army which is bringing this site into disrepair.
Many of the PFC have been integral in assisting this site in continuing to function: Some of us are beta testers. Some take the time to trawl the forums finding games to submit analysis of on a regular basis, helping to keep the engine user numbers down. Some of us help the process of multiple account uses and other infringements of the ToS. Some of us run successful clans, the members of which are nothing to do with the PFC.
The facts of what has happened over the last few weeks are now too muddied and distorted to look at clearly. Everyone has their own interpretation of what happened, some closer to teh truth than others. What I think can be said with surety is this: Some of our members and some of the members of another clan have had run ins with each other. This has built up over the weeks and things have become such that now every issue here at RHP has become mired by this.
But now Dottwell has left because of it and as far as I'm concerned that's where it should end. So I'd like anyone who's got a beef to come right out and present it, get it out of your system and let that be an end to it. I'll happily discuss it with those that have something to say, but the moment things turn nasty I'm out. A one time offer.
