The new Playstation 3 platform is scheduled for release sometime in 2006. For those of you who have just recently purchased a PS2, I'm sorry to say that your machine will be obsolete in about 2 years.
For those of you, like me, who have had the PS2 since it came out years and years ago....next year will be a time to celebrate!

Originally posted by RussI think it does. Especially since it has the capacity to have a hard drive installed in its guts, allowing for game downloading and CD burning...with it's own menu and a storage of over 500 games!
My PS2 shipped with 'BASIC' - I even wrote a program using my joypad. Surely that makes it the most computer’ish console ever?

Pretty swanky, if you ask me.
i'm gonna get the PS3 and the new X-box 2 🙂
well, i think the PS3 will be the hit! altho the X-box was better than PS2 in my opinion! Game Cube is just trash! a waste of money for getting it, nothing compared to the PS2 or the X-box! i thought it'll be better than i expected! Nintendo 64 was much much better! lets see what microsoft has for us against the PS3! 🙄

Gamecube sucks ass and so does x-box
psp rocks
The Gamecube is a lot better than anything in my opinion...great games, not alot, but Nintendo has a great quality control/track record IMHO, so I continue to support them.
PSP is a overglorified portable DVD player, with a price tag that would make NASA budgeteers blush.
Read an article this am in Metro stating that the Xbox 360 (?) will be 5 times more powerful than a home computer, the PS3 will be ten times.
The PS3 will have 256mb Ram and the Xbox 360 512mb.
Although realising that it is more than Ram that makes a PC powerful, my work PC's (they are available for public purchase) have 2GB Ram Dual Processing Pentium 4 3.06 etc etc etc.
I also have a set of PowerMac G5's that are "*&£hot.
I'm sorry, but the spec of the two machines that I have seen so far do not even come close.

Oh, and did anybody else watch E3? Poor Nintendo...all they could reveal was their new console, with no screenshots or even upcoming games. It was just a black box.
I read in the Evening Standard the other day that Microsoft admit that the PS3 is superior to the XBox 360, but hope to steal sales by having the XBox 360 released first.
I personally will wait for the PS3.
I have played on the PSP a couple of months back. My cousin got one from Singapore. I admit that it is good, but not good enough for me to purchase. Unfortunately the games he had on it were all in Japanese! Probably that was what put me off. 😲
I love the styling on the new Xbox 360 - and REALLY hate the styling on the PS3. The specs on both bits of kit are good, but that PS3 is going to steam along.
If MS doesn't make the same mistake twice of entering the market at some silly price, then I will have to see if my budget can stretch to both. (Luckily, I don't buy much software, and that is what really costs the money)
