Best Bands:

Linkin Park
My Chemical Romance

I like the stuff that came out of the Alternative Tentacles label. Dead Kennedy's, Nomeansno etc (maybe Alice Donut)
Kudos to whoever mentioned the stiffs!
But Greenday never sold out, I mean what did they have to sell? First time I heard them was basketcase, seemed poppy then and they seem poppy now.
there are no bands about today that you could really call "punk", with the exception of maybe greenday and rancid. so we're left with blink 18les2, goldfinger et al...i think this is generally called "pop punk", although i don't really know...😛
dead kennedys were great - they were handing out leaflets at my union about helping the homeless over christmas, and the first song i heard when i sat down was "kill the poor". it made my ngiht...😛
It should be called "making money quick by targeting the suburban white teenage market with a neutered variety of guitar music appearing just dangerous enough to give those kids the idea that their rebelling against something, but not dangerous enough to make them actually leave their save homes, steal their parents money, pierce their faces, spike up their hair, squat houses and generally try to bring about anarchy"-punk.
But I admit pop punk sounds more catchy.
Talking about real punk, anyone mention The Exploited yet?
