This is a myth. See for example here: http://www.hermit.org/Eclipse/badscience.html (under "Swirling Water" ).

Sorry, but I think you lost your authority. I know a place where they sell really good authorities. Interested?

They don't have plug holes in the countryside. 😀

It is connected with the rotation of the Earth. The 'myth' is simply that the water will ALWAYS rotate one way or the other.

Edit: Also, in England (the northern hemisphere) water will tend to rotate anti-clockwise. And so, clockwise in Australia.

It's said to be the other way around: Counter-clockwise in the Northern hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern hemisphere. However, check out this site:

How much for a slightly used authority. I can offer a pig, two penguins, a jar of pickled bull testicles, a couple of squid muffins and some crayons.

No crappy authority either, I want something with some 'umph!' to it.

RESPECT MY AUTHORATIE!

You can get an old, but not overused authoratie with a nice 'humph' to it for half a pig, two penguins and five crayons (different colours, no pink) + a squid muffin and three wrecks for the negotiator. I will respect it once you have bought it.

This is just a guess, but it SOUNDS like maybe you are jumping
off thread here.

Oh, I forgot to mention that this authoratie spins anti-clockwise in England and clockwise in Australia, while it doesn't spin at all at the equator.
