I am in touch with a lady from Greve, dealing with Genealogy. She has sent me a lot of information but need a Danish-English translation. Looks like library time unless someone has another idea.
Thank You

Gene,

I don't know if it will be any help, but there is some information on the web... Use www.google.com and type in "Danish Genealogy Translations" in the search field and do a search. I spent some time looking at some of the sites listed there. One of them has a "cost estimator" you can paste into to get an estimate on the cost.

I had some genealogy on a great-great grandfather born 20 Sept., 1838 from Allesage, Holbak Co., Sjallene State, Denmark. I inherited his diary from my grandfather when he passed away. Luckily for me, all but the opening statement had been translated. I took it to the University Of Utah, and a kind gentleman there translated the single unknown paragraph for me as i wrote it down. It said :

" This is the testimony given me by my mother : When I was about 25 years old i became engaged and devoted to Andrew Jensen, who beguiled and falsely betrayed me. We thereby transgressed the law, and soon afterwards he broke his engagement and abandoned me. The result of our affection was the birth of Ole Andrew Jensen. When I was 32 years old I married a widower who respected and cared for myself and the child."

Ole Andrew Jensen's journals have daily entries from 1848 to 1922 and encompasses his being orphaned at age 9 , escape from indenture, migration to Brittain, then Canada and finally to Wyoming. Very interesting stuff. Good luck in your genealogy searches. Mike
