Along with all the other board code on the site, the game analysis code is in the process of being overhauled, and when it is released you will be able to experiment with lines, stepping back and forth, and swap, add and remove pieces using what I hope is a very simple interface.

But, given a choice, would you prefer :

A) The game analysis board always-available right from the default move board (a tab would allow you to switch instantly between the two) BUT there would be no option to review the game history as you can now. The 'game history' page would need to be viewed for this.

B) The existing games analysis pop up (including enhancements) with the analysis and game history reviewable all in one.

I hope I made myself clear there, but if not, I will answer any questions to clarify the above. I just need some instant feedback to this before I make a decision which path to pursue...

Thanks all.

-Russ

[edit : Yes, I know this should be in site ideas, but I want a quick response.]

My vote.

Personally, B

EDIT: I play quite a lot of games and the game history helps me remember the "flow" of the game when I am analysing.

I am assuming the lack of game history is the deciding factor?

EDIT : Ok, I just read your edit. 🙂

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

But I like things the way they are.

Yes. B is the best option.

Sorry - realised just saying "B" was probably not what you were looking for!

OK, great. That was quicker than I even expected. I think I can see the way this is going.

Anymore before I close this out?

Actually, I don't really care. I just have an irrational hatred of pop-up windows. This was a perfect opportunity to make a switch, so I thought I would put it to everyone. As it is, (B) is pretty much finished already, so that will help with progress anyway.

Whichever makes the 'move' page require least bandwidth - I'm guessing that's B, as it appears A will include the entire game history in the first request.

(I like my GPRS connection, and the pages on RHP tend to be huge already)

please lose the pop-up windows - the 'back' button is provided for returning from analysis window to the game.

edit: back button in the browser, not necessarily one on th page.
