I believe the random pairing works out very well in the MOAKT tournament. There are several games that are evenly matched, based on the players rating. For example, T1000 and Lionel, they have very meaningful games. Not like usually when the first round games are immediately mismatches. Just imaging if a player like me, 1100-level rating, would play T1000, Lionel or Icarus in the first round. It would be good for me to learn from the great players, but it would not be challenging for the opponent. I am also evenly matched🙂
