It just seems like disrespect to just about every issue. I know there are exceptions to this. And there is some that is positive. But I am so turned off by it that I don't want to listen to any of it.
No one said the could.
One other thing is that it is so intrusive. I live in an apartment. And I hear this stuff everywhere. In the parking lots half a mile away, this stuff rattles my walls. If I am in my car, someone pulls up along side me and bam bam bam. My mirrors start shaking and I wonder what part am I going to have to replace next in my vehicle that has been shattered by this cr@p. Kids can't sleep around this stuff and if they do I am sure there will not only be hearing problems but also mental. Any music that drowns out my rock sux's.
Rap was Ok until Tupac and Biggie came along taking gangster rap to the height they promoted it. if you listen to rap these days, the lyrics are appalling. Everyone is f**king up, f**cked up, blowing someones brains, messing around, kicking a$$, yapping crap. Its degeneration X and the good old days of rap are truly gone.
Originally posted by EsotericFor me, it's superficial "rhymes" like this that make me laugh (though these are by no means the worst example). However, speaking non-english just to make your rhymes come together doesn't work for me. Many rappers think that shoving together some phonemes that sound similar and then coming up with some kind pre-ryhme phrase that sort of fits in with it constitutes urban literature. It is, in my view, on the hole, very childish.
I would love for you to come up with anything like these rhymes...
Sinny Sin Sin's - Roots Manuva
Woke up one Sunday, feeling kinda raw
I said "Dad, I don't really want to go Church no more"
Soon as I said shit, I felt a slap to my jaw
He said "Son, as long as your living under my roof
Your gonna heed my interpretation of the truth
And the truth ...[text shortened]... g disciple, I almost gave my life to what the dice do
Having said that, I think the main problem with rap is that there is too much rubbish around. However it is not all rubbish. Some of the more intelligent rap IS pretty good, has underlying melody which is sometimes unusual and even clever, and is well worth its place in musical history.
I feel that rap has run it's course.
When Rock 'n' Roll came out it was exciting and new.
The next thing was punk.
Then rap/hip hop.
Rap is entering the phase where it is getting tired like rock music has been seen to be for a while.
There will still be good stuff, but the majority will just be repeating the same thing.
Personally, I don't care for most of it, especially the gangster stuff which I can't relate to.
There's nothing worse than non-rap artists sticking a rap in the middle of their song either.
Bad examples must be Blondie's "Rapture" and Robbie Williams' "Rock DJ".
