ratings

as the ratings formula uses a win expectancy factor, am i right in
thinking if you are playing say 10 games, 5 of which are lost,5 which
you will win,resigning the lost games before the wins are calculated in
means you end up with a higher rating? if so personality influences
ratings, because someone who gets out of lost games early ends up
witha higher rating than the guy who hangs on in hoping his opponant
gives up chess to join a monestry and win on time out.

🙂...that is true short term or for any set number of games. But over the long
haul, to maintain that rating you have to win up to a certain "expectancy" The
next loss will bring you further down than it would have otherwise. It all
should average out.
But anyone on the fence about joining a monestary can give me a challenge🙂

Alrighty then! Back to the original statement. It's just plain ol' good
common sense to resign a game thats obviously lost to to the lack of

Good man! The never one player should be he representative of the
site, and act polite. I don't understand why many top players bicker
and name call like they do. And of all people, Schliemann, who is
extremely polite and nice! And a great player! We need him or
someone else that is nice up at numero uno! Like Zumdahl or me!
