Have I missed an (pre-)announcement somewhere?

Now, I really wonder how this will be organized. Will it be club against club, or can club members club against each other?

Have anyone proposed an idea like this already, so we might know what is in store?

It seems even non-subscribers can join clubs too. That should make it easy to reach 50 members for most.

From the sidebar it says:
For any game to contribute to a club rating, both players must be members of the club at the time the game starts. A club must have a minimum of 50 members before games are rated.

It sounds like clubs are for battles amongst themselves?

It looks like to me you just need to be member of the club involved at the time of game creation (of course). Not specifically the same club. The same thing is with clans. After the creation one might leave the club of clan as they please. The points (?) themselves will go to the club, as is with clans.

Hmm, it says "with the inclusion of club rating graphs, club forums and tournaments, plus other features". So it looks like it will be inbound only [having club tournaments and all].

"Why clubs, what purpose do they have?

This has come out of a couple of things. When the first accusations of cheating started being voiced years ago, with people taking opposing views on different players, I had considered different ways to satisfy everyone. Also, after thinking about why people would even cheat in the first place, I thought the site probably would benefit from devaluing the site rating system somehow. (Surely, the only reason anyone would consider cheating, right? For some kind of personal glory?)

The one idea that evolved was the idea of individually ranked communities, managed by those within, with their own rating system running alongside the main site ratings. Hopefully, without fragmenting the general community at the same time"
as Russ says.

Quite clear on this matter. For now...

Still in the trial phase, Russ said not to get too comfortable because it mightn't work - but certainly there's a lot of excitement in there at the moment.
