I get to play chess here. The interface is easy to use and navigate.
I get to lead a clan. And participate in another.
I can discuss stuff in the forums while I'm taking a break from my chess moves.
This site has helped me improve by giving me a wide variety of opponents and styles to play against.
I have made friends here and enjoy that.
All of this except the clan, I could have done for free, noone asked me to join or pay money. I felt that was a great gesture.

You can chat to allsorts of wonderful people, with chess as the link. I've chatted to Grandparents in canada, housewives in Banagalore, Republicans in texas and teenagers in Japan. Where else can you do that in a day.
