I think I was a chameleon. Long greasy hair and rock music. Summer of 76 doesn't cut hair, but gets into new wave. In fact got hit by drunk from a gang of mods in a bar who was antagonising my mate's girlfriend one sad evening about a year later so our hair was still long. Then cut hair wore drain pipes becomes a student and gets into Ska and two tone followed by the independent music that was emerging in Manchester.
@divegeester saidMod was '60s, yeah? And mostly British-influenced. We saw some of it here, miniskirts and boots, the slick coats, the caps.
Which are you?
Then? Now?
Why?
Nope. Not nearly old enough for all that.
Much more influenced by the late '60s rock.
@suzianne saidThe wikilink below is an interesting and easy read which takes you through the early Mod days of the 1960s, their fashions, music etc, right up to the rivals of the 80s and later with the Jam etc.

I find the working class London roots of the typical London Mod quite fascinating, especially how Mods lived in the same communities as the West Indian immigrants and hung out together and were heavily influenced by the Ska an Rude Boy musical genres. The working class pressures of the subculture are very well characterised in the film Quadrophenia.

@hells-caretaker saidTalkin' 'Bout My Generation. I narrowly missed hearing The Who live in concert; I had tickets, but it was cancelled last minute due to illness in the band.
🤔Rocker, elder brothers - Thin Lizzy & Gary Moore. Quadrophenia was a bit before my time🚬

@suzianne saidI wear a pork pie hat. Maybe that's about happy memories of Ska. Maybe its basically cos I've got no hair. 😁

@divegeester saidMid-70s, yes.
That’s a shame, was the line up in the days when Moon was still alive?
