It seems that RHP has been blocked here in China.
I have been using RHP in China for nearly 2 years now with no problems, until about 48 hours ago.
Since then, I have been unable to load RHP unless I am using a VPN.
Facebook has been blocked here since riots in the northwest some time ago, the only way to access Facebook is to use a VPN.
Hoping this is not permanent

I'm sure eons ago it was a witty invention, and not conceived as being so hugely popular.
However, worldwide the word 'pawn' can be misconceived as 'porn', and that would lead to censure in many various countries.
Why not 'Red Hot King'? or 'Red Hot Queen'? or to lower risk, 'Red hot Rook'?
Red Hot Rook brings back to googled RHP - LINKS can be re-attached, at great work of course - to change.
Too much hassle I guess. But then, maybe a million users can't get thru to this site, as it is banned.
Silly idea to change the site name, I Know! But could be beneficial for all users and admin. 😳

Maybe Russ could start www.chessinchina.com and not include the forums, lets face it the Chinese government probably attempted to read debates or spirituality and blocked the sites for the good of their citizens/workslaves.
Yeah, chessatwork et al. are all blocked. I suspect they just block the IP address, which all those names resolve to.
@ the old guy 😉 a VPN is a Virtual Private Network. It is software that you instal, and all web communications are encrypted and sent to a server somewhere else. That server decrypts the information, requests webpages etc, encrypts it all and sends it back to your computer.
Those who have access to your computer's communications with the outside world only see the encrypted streams going back and forth to the remote server.
It has two uses, one to cover your tracks on the internet, the other is to stop people snooping, especially into your wifi. If I use this laptop in an airport, all they get is the encrypted stream. I get the webpages.
I use a server in Hong Kong, because it is closer, faster, and if the Chinese government really wants to watch what I am doing they can. They will see that I am just playing chess, and doing the usual stuff on Facebook.
I did a forum search to see if there was anything of late that might have pissed them off, I found nothing. Not at all sure what is going on here, maybe just stupid games, maybe a mistake, maybe something I am missing.
Russ, I understand there is nothing you can do, luckily I dont need you to do anything 🙂
Anybody who believes their internet communication is not open and snooped at lives either in a fantasy world, or has no internet communication.
