OK, chess has some ties with the military (kinda), so could we have a RHP Ranking system?

It's easy enough seeing who is the top rated player or the guy who's made the most moves, but how about combining all these things - average rating, total moves, time as a subscriber, posts, recs etc. into a ranking system using some kind of algorithm, to see who the RHP General is, with majors, leutenants etc.

Just for fun....😀

We could just have ranks based on chess pieces. The first award would be Pawn (eg you give all subscribers this rank initially), going through Knight, Bishop and Rook until the top player was King or Queen. To make it fair though, it might be better if King/Queen was a rotating post, so one person could only hold it for, say, a month before letting someone else take over. This could be a replacement for the star system we have now, which is based on number of moves.

sounds like a great idea to me

Hmm, replacing the star...
Interesting notion, I like it. We could change the colour of the chess piece (rank) to show the number of moves, like the current system.

Yeah, let us all be ranked, filed and judged...

Not sure about getting rid of the star...the star is everything 😛

but i like the idea...maybee have more than one king and queen, say 5 of each so it is not like a total best guy on the site ( as some might get jealous 😕) if the same person kept getting it.

Not that it matters what I think, but the current system is good. I mean, we shouldn't spend so much time ranking each other and stuff; it's not like I'll be taking orders from anyone else 😛
Besides, although some players are "better" than others, it's important to remember that certain playing STYLES are more effective against other playings STYLES. And that anybody has a chance to beat anybody else, no matter what their little number says about them.
...And that's all I have to say about that.

i lived in the Netherlands a number of years ago and they had different types of axams for different levels, like a pawn diploma, a knights diploma, a castle's diploma. I think it would be a nice idea if your rating corresponded with a chess piece, with say pawn <1300, knight <1500 bishop <1700, rook <1900, queen <2000 and king anything over 2000 ... just a thought.

i thought there was a different forum for these kind of suggestions... 😕

and one day i will have a star! one dayyyyyyy!!!!!!😞

or how about basing it on the master system of rating things-i.e. you play in a number of those tournaments, you become a knight, then a bishop, until finally you become a queen. then the biggie-the "king" competition-where all the queens are entered into an annual tournament, and the winner joins the rank of the chosen...(the king bits just my own imagination btw...tisn't based on the master system...)

There's a fairly standard set of 'classes' associated with the standard elo rathing system:
2600+ "GM" Level
2400-2599 "IM" level
2200-2399 Master
2000-2199 Expert
1800-1999 Class A
1600-1799 Class B
1400-1599 Class C
1200-1399 Class D
1000-1199 Class E
800-999 Class F
600-799 Class G
400-599 Class H
200-399 Class I
100-199 Class J

I know we've currently no IM or GM standard players (I'm working on it....), but these would do.

The next question of course is the award of Master and Grand Master titles....

I wouldn't put my hand into fire saying that RHP has not International or even Grand Master playing here ...

Otherwise these criteria you demonstrated make sense ...

Reminds me of school, here I am almost 20 years later and still get a C.... and this time I studied! (honest... um, the dog ate my chess set!)

"Phlabibit could do better if he would apply himself, pleasure to have in class."
