In the market for a new phone. Anyone try this one from Samsung?

Please dont' talk about the iphone...I don't like having my technology spoonfed to me like the iphone does.

So it doesn't matter that it is probably the best designed piece of personal communications technology ever available to the public?

I'm so pissed I didn't get it. The BlackBerry had a great sales pitch, but doesn't get close.

Why's that? Because it's got a touch screen interface?

Appeals to mushy-pated 'arty types' who think it is a sentient being.

I've never had cause to replace my trusty pocket telegraph.

Yes, amongst other things like, the camera quality, its ability to handle video, GPS, games and connectivity with social networking sites. Couple any of these things with the size and quality of the screen, the intuitive ease of use and the immense wealth of Apps available, it seems clear to me that it excels at what it does.

Sure other phones are coming on the market which provide similar functionality, but none stand up (yet) to the iphone on every level.

I admit I am placing my camera like on the hipstamatic app, which I love. I do not have an N97 for comparison.

I have high hopes for Android on the Nexus 1 and will probably get it as my next phone.

BTW, uzless:
The Omnia uses MS Windows 6.1
Wait for MS Phone 7. For now, get an iPhone.

I'd say it was the other way around - the 3Gs model is the only iPhone that's come close to matching the standards of other phones on the market.

Yes, the interface is innovative (quite a big leap forward in touch screens) and there is an abundance of apps available but take those factors away and you're left with a poor quality camera, a standard flash drive and average Wireless/GPS connectivity. However, most people don't see that; they're just enticed by the shiny casing, flashy interface and brilliant Apple marketing.

I'd say it's far more a case of cleverly marketed style over substance than the pinnacle of mobile technology.

Omnia 2 uses windows 6.5, Omnia 1 used the old version.

Agreed Daemon. I don't understand the appeal of the iphone other than it looks shiny and nice. The technology inside is nowhere near as advanced as some of the other phones.

Where's the mulititasking ability? iphone has a 3gb camera whereas most others have 5gb now. No multiple home pages so you can split up your apps instead of having to scroll through page after page?? Come on. Multi-media wise it isn't up to snuff for sure. WIfi? Bluetooth?

the iphone is fine if you are a mundane, one at a time person. But i prefer to be able to customize my phone the way i want it, not the way apple forces you to conform to their idea of what you should want.

I see the 3gs finally adds multi-tasking and a video editor but the call quality is still average.

I don't know but to lay out that kind of money, i'd expect a lot more for a phone. I can get the Omnia 2 for free on a 3 year contract versus having to shell out 300 bux for a clearly inferior iphone on the same 3 year contract. The HTC Droid Incredible is also better in my opinion i think.

To me, iphone has been marketed brilliantly and lures in the people who like shiny things but it's clearly behind the quality curve. The iphone seems to only be popular based on the apps and its shinnyness.

Read for yourself.
