Most workplaces will punish both sides in any fighting at work. Most have a zero tolerance stance for fighting. Where I work, if a fight happens, everyone who participates will lose their job, period. Everyone knows this, too, so in all the time I've worked there, I've never personally witnessed a fight.

Ah, I didn't mean between colleagues, but rather unwell clients. - Episodes of violence that is, not fighting, and obviously not reciprocated. 😀

It could be just to keep the glare off his screen, and for people-watching opportunities (not necessarily being on the lookout for potential assassins).

As explained previously, thieves are known to snatch laptops in such places when one is distracted. Taking such precautions as to where one sits is a demonstration of prudence, not cowardice.

One day you will have your device snatched when in McDonald's and all that brisk walking won't have helped.

I don't use a laptop at Macdonalds goad I have a cell phone and if someone can take it out of my hands, I say good luck to them for trying!!! 😉

My cell is used at Macdonalds always. I don't have a laptop I have a tower which was built so I have all the parts in it I wanted. Something goes all I do is replace the part.

Better half has a laptop but doesn't take it out with her. If she did, it wouldn't mattter because the Macdonald's we go to is a little more upper class obviously than the 'cafe' you do!!!
