What is the best cure?

I've developed the theory that getting drunk is the best idea as then the motion would just feel like being drunk ordinarily.

Anyone tried this?

The best cure for sea sickness is to stand under a tree!

I don't drink alcohol, so I haven't tried it. I have taken pills, without any noticeable effect. Lying down before you start feeling sick works often, but not always. If nothing else helps, drowning yourself sounds like a good option (at least it can sound quite attractive while you are seasick and feel like you are dying anyway).

Some people suffer others don't but generally if you can get out in the fresh air and look at the horizon you will see that you are not moving about as much as you thought, probably no more than a bumpy bus ride!

I spend half my life at sea and on the odd occasion when I have felt a little off colour (heading out into a F8 gale does it occasionally) I find if I can get some sleep, 1/2 hour will do it then I am fine, however I am not really a sufferer of it badly.

The only sure fire cure has already been posted and that is stand under a tree.

Pills man.

Up on deck. Look at the horizon. To fixate yourself.

Down at the bottom...the least motion.

Go by plane.

I'm just guessing, by the way. I'm never never ever sea sick. Car sick. Or plane sick.

Booze makes me sick though. Then I sometimes take a sea-sick tablet to settle my nausia.

Well its a good job you don't get bad seasickness if you spend half your life at sea. I would have to say very bad job/hobby choice if you get bad seasickness

Its not sea sickness. Its motion sickness. Nothing to be ashamed of, quite common. If you have it bad there is no worse feeling on earth, you just want to die. Try pills like Dramamine or Bonine, if they dont work, go to a doctor and get a prescriptin for Scopalomine in patch form, its worn behind the ear. It WILL work. A few side effects come with it, but nothing as bad as the sickness itself.

"Heroic" amounts of alcohol. 😉 That'll cure pretty much anything.

Ah yes, I tried those, too (they sold them on the ship). I didn't get very seasick on that journey, but I don't think that was because of the wrist bands, but because it was a big ship, and I was lying down early. It hurt to wear them, so I didn't have them on all the time. I couldn't notice a difference.
