Anyone else?

So far, since the weather in Good Ol' Blighty turned sour, I have endured:

Finding out my Grandma has cancer,
Nearly got sacked.
2 separate Debt Collection Agencies have just found me.
I starting getting shin splints.
And loads of other stuff too personal to put in these forums!

I think it's psycological, and that I should start to hibernate over the winter months. Just to avoid, well, everything!

3) If debt collectors are after you it's generally your own fault in the first place.

Your Gran is the only bad news in that bunch, I hope she recovers.

Ahem

A shin splint is the most common cause of exercise-induced leg pain encountered by athletes of all levels. This condition can also affect non-athletic people who are on their feet all day. In the past the term shin splint has been used to describe all forms of pain in the lower leg. Misleading terms such as compartment syndrome and stress fractures have all been used to describe a shin splint. However, a shin splint is a very specific problem. It is essentially an inflammatory reaction involving the deep tissues of the lower leg and may involve tendons & muscles.

The inflammatory reaction occurs at the point where the deep tissues insert into the inside (medial) or front (anterior) aspect of the leg bone (tibia), tenderness is usually present between 3-16 cm above the foot.

When a patient is suffering from a medial shin splint the pain and the tenderness will be present on the inner aspect of the leg. In an anterior shin splint, pain and tenderness is present on the front and outer aspect of the leg, in both cases, running and walking may be extremely painful. In severe cases, even light weight bearing may be painful.

Doctor......please.
Don't ask ordinary people to explain these medical terms.

And I WAS gonna refer some patients to you for bone doctoring.

edit: I realise now, that was a test question.

Can't help with the other problems , but as to the SAD ; move someplace sunny . My mood got better the instant I moved to Colorado from Wisconsin . Winter and early spring I would get horribly depressed . Everything is grey , cold and dreary there from November to May . Now I'm in a place that averages 300 days of sun per year . It makes all of the difference in the world .

See your G.P.

and get one of those ultrabright lights too put in your room. if your GP diagnoses you with SAD, then you can get it on the NHS (i think)

take care with St Johns wort, it comes in many different forms mainly depending on what part of the plant the tablet comes form, the root has different properties to the leaves and similar to cannabis the majoritory of the main ingredient is in the new buds. Its not safe either, in most studies it has been shown to give more side effects than other antidepressants when given in eqivalent doses. it also interacts with alot of other medication. Just because it grows dosn't mean its safer.

Thank you all!

I have access to things slightly more potent than St John's Wort, but I understand that it can help.

As for moving somewhere warm and sunny: I live in Yorkshire, there is no escape, especially when the debt collectors are all after me....

As for it all being my fault that the debt collectors are after me, my only defense is that I took the loans out in case I had to pay for a funeral. (at the time, one was extremely imminent) - the aftermath of that situation left me clinically depressed, homeless, jobless and on the verge of suicide, so the last thing on my mind was how to pay off huge loans: I was concentrating on finding somewhere to sleep.

The shin splints might not be the greatest injury in the world, but they bloomin' hurt - alright?!!😠

And, for what it's worth, the real reason that I am really not a very happy chappy at all at the moment, is that I've just found out that my 6 yr old daughter may well be disabled for the rest of her life.
