Semi colons

Semi colons

General

They're; subtle and nifty things but; underused, I think.

If I am quoting someone's actual words inside quotation marks, should I ever use semi-colons in the same way as they are used to punctuate other types; of written text?

You could PM me about this but I reckon; I'm not the only person here who wants to know.

Wrong in all aspects.

Toxic posting.

Readers beware.

Eschew semicolons if you are only moderately skilled.

Semicolons are rarely used, I hardly remember what I was taught at school; I use them when it feels right to do so.

I write novels for fun; the semi - colon has become my friend and I use loads of them, all the time! Maybe not always in the right place but who's counting....Let's hear it for the semi - colon I say.

Do you use them in quoted speech?

Like:

"I can't decide between Delores and Delilah; I have never been able to decide."

Yes I do, I don't see why one should not. Especially if you write as well as what I do.
