That 200 CS Heavy Cavalry sounds very nice, but to put it in perspective, you can get 220 CS and save 2 gold in the bargain with a pair of Ashigaru Arquebusiers.
Or you could spend 20 gold and get two arquebusier marksmen, at 220 CF (your ashigaru are only 2 x 55, 110). My favourite troops indeed. Attacking a brace of them in a fortress would be murder. Backed up with heavy cavalry, ouch! The cavalry of course add the flexibility that has already been discussed. Also, they have 4 hit points, as opposed to the 3 of two marksmen. Then, too, should one marksman die, the CF is halved. You have to kill all 4 hit points worth of horse- and man-meat before the bustard stops fighting!

I'm very happy with my Yari lancers, not quite as good as heavy cavalry, 4 x 45%, but they have made me some rapid gains, as have my beloved light cavalry, which seem like a poor investment at 12 gold for 2x50% and 2 hit points, but it is quite entertaining to think of ways to use that phenomenal speed!

You mean 240 CF for the Marksmen.

The Arquebusiers are superior to the Marksmen in all respects except that the latter are individually larger which can be handy in a few specific situations (smaller units have advantages in different specific situations). The CS/Cost, CS/UK, HP/Cost and HP/UK of the Arquebusiers are all better than those of the Marksmen. In short, you get more for your gold piece with the Arquebusiers. In any case I don't have access to Marksmen.

Of course the very best tactic is to hide behind strong, knowledgeable allies and ruthlessly poke your tongue out at all and sundry!

Bleuch to you Matsunaga! And you Tokugawa!

Duh, 240, yes....silly me.

You're trying to convince yourself that your arquebusiers are superior because, well, they're yours. OK--they're superior...

No maybe not, but I still love it when a plan comes together 😉

Your conversation is going over my head: I must be on the wrong plane.

There are some amazingly stupid translations in Katakana that defy logic. I had many arguments over what is the English word with Japanese , having to explain that the Katakana - "phonetic" translation for a particular word makes no sense in English at all.
