Which may be a good thing. All empires come to an end and the former king of the world is just another one of the guys like Federer, now shown to be human after all. And Serena for that matter, her # 1 days are numbered.

You oughta know: you were in your twenties and remember when Woodrow Wilson re-initiated the State of the Union.
Things were so simple back then, right?
Pepperidge Farms and sonhouse remembers...

What envy? Resentful discontent, yes. But envy? Of what? Your diabetes,
bureaucracy, wealth gap, greed, or hypocrisy? Nah, thanks, we're happy up
here in the most developed region of the world.

It is still the place where a foreigner can land with a dollar in his pocket, a set of pecs, and a dream--and become: Mr. Universe, a movie star, Gubernator of California, marry the Kennedy's (he said they married him), and a movie star again. The American dream still lives.

No, the American Dream is dead. Check the social stats.

It. Is. A. Myth.

Like it or not. Fact.

Here we go, for the cowboys and the stories they've been spoon fed by
their oligarchic masters.

While a majority of Americans might think that hard work determines
success and that it should be relatively simple business to climb and
remain out of poverty, the reality is that the United States has a relatively
entrenched upper class, but precarious, ever-shifting lower and middle
classes. While many Americans might hate welfare, the data suggest they
are fairly likely to fall into it at one point or another.

I heard that 1 in 100 Americans are millionaires. I guess the rest of us are stone cold broke.

Some studies (Barclays and Capgemini if I recall correctly) talk about
5.1 million HNWI (high net worth individuals), which is I think what you
are after.

There are 319 million people living in the US, so 1.5% of Americans are
candidates to be hanged when the sheep finally realize their situation and
revolt. Pretty much, as the regressive social mobility stats show, the next
generation of pigs will be related to those right now in the 1.5%.

So how much wealth do those HNWI have compared to the rest of us combined?

It varies. In one of my prior incarnations the firm classified HNWI as over €1M in liquid assets. Underline liquid.
