Hello,
Playing people in different time zones can be a real pig, and not
everyone puts in their profile where in the world they are.
How about having a little flag next to your name showing where you
come from. I know there are a lot of countries so this could prove a bit
difficult (and maybe a bit political) somaybe you could have different
flags for different continents.
Another way you could do this would be for people to choose a time
zone which they play in.
Anyway just an idea not thought through with any great effort. I am
sure if any you are interested you could come up with a better way of
expressing what I am getting at.
Cheers
Andrew
The flags idea is interesting (and would add colour/color to the site)
but it would have to be optional. Some people might not like their
nationality being revealed.
As for the time zone selection, this is coming soon. I'm surprised it
doesn't get requested more often. I've even done some work
already for this, so don't expect a long delay before its available.

Russ,
What about guys like me. I was born in Finland, but I am now citizen
in Sweden and Unites States of America.
Would it be possible to post more than one flag?
Or should the flag be from the country of origin, or country of
citizenship, or the country of current recidence?
I think the recidence would make most sense it is usually the desiding
factor of when the player is on line!

flag of residence would tell you online time to an extent, but not
really - different people play at different times of the day, so 2 people
on the east coast of the US could play 10 hours apart from each other
(one starting at 9am, one at 7pm) - further apart than someone in
Germany and someone in the US where Germany plays at night and
US plays at work (although I'm sure that NEVER happens ;o) ).
Plus a flag that wasn't your "natural" nationality might cause
confusions. If someone picked to play you because of language, local
knowledge etc, then it might not work (I know I couldn't hold a decent
conversation in written French, let alone Flemish). And would some
people get upset by an "alien" flying their flag?
And could multiple flags leave people confused as to which refers to
what?
Flags on their own for fun would be fine, but trying to make them
mean something specific could be tricky. I know all this is unhelpful;
I'm just trying to point out the potential problems so someone
smarter that me can think of the solutions.
