Agree. Standard punctuation seems at times too heavy handed, boiler plate final and overly definitive. An ellipsis nuance, now and then,

allows for omission of unecessary pedestrian words. It also does the useful work of providing a breathing pause as well as emphasis.

P.S. About 91% of my lifetime allotement has already been used up.
Yes, And I am not very far behind you in life allotement. So the moral of the story, is not to sweat the little things?

stevie wonder once wrote to me that he hates it when people put in three little dots all over the place, it just confuses him, in fact i still have his actual quote which follows > :.::.::.. .:...:, ..:.:::.. see perfectly self explanatory, now sprinkle in some dots > :....::.:...:.. ....:...:., ..:....::...:.. and it has become ambiguous, non sensical and lets face it, a little dotty

Those are examples of people using it wrong. Its true intention is to be used for omitting words from something you are quoting.

For example, letes take your post: ...office hours are... ๐Ÿ˜›
so if we want to leave something out, we can use ...'s
am i correct in assuming if we want to insert stuff we can use e's

if i'm correct, hold hands and letes pray

Guess in a sort of strange way it's comforting to know that some things never change. Some peoples' rude

and crude children still think it's clever to spoil another person's (first ever) thread. Shame on you.

Anything seemingly insignificant that you see as concerning or unnerving?

To me, the ellipsis (...) [three dots in a row, often used to hang sentences 'off of' other sentences, but in the world of dramatism these three little dots strikes some concern. Being left off in the middle of nowhere when you prefer answers is quit ...[text shortened]... ry significant to you, and why?

First attempt at some sort of General Forum thread,
-Kfenn
the dots, aka (...) are also used to separate thoughts in a paragraph rather than starting a new paragraph largely to save space and as a substitute for the semi colon ( ๐Ÿ˜‰ which does not allow enough physical space separation between the end of the sentence and the next thought to be read clearly (esp on a big screen tv)

So to some up, a period indicates the next sentence is related to the previous sentence whereas ... indicates the next sentence is not related to the previous sentence....I hope you understand.

Think it was ten or more years ago, now, that some linguistic group announced a new punctuation mark...

the 'interrobang.' Looked like this... !? or ?! (can't quite remember). Anyway, thankfully it never caught on.

It's interesting how whatever manages the games sometimes recognizes good moves as dubious or the even worse ?? moves. In games I have viewed it is the case that such moves are sometimes set ups for traps and such.
