Dang! You're on the wrong side of it! Any chance it'll swing north and skip you?

I know - that's why I was hoping it'd swing north instead of just due east. I did my share of time in the basement...

To me, the ellipsis (...) [three dots in a row, often used to hang sentences 'off of' other sentences, but in the world of dramatism these three little dots strikes some concern. Being left off in the middle of nowhere when you prefer answers is quit ...[text shortened]... ry significant to you, and why?

I love three little dots rather they join a sentence, make a point. or just for the hell of making three little dots... 😛

Agree. Standard punctuation seems at times too heavy handed, boiler plate final and overly definitive. An ellipsis nuance, now and then,

allows for omission of unecessary pedestrian words. It also does the useful work of providing a breathing pause as well as emphasis.

P.S. About 91% of my lifetime allotement has already been used up.

Those are examples of people using it wrong. Its true intention is to be used for omitting words from something you are quoting.

For example, letes take your post:

"Anything seemingly insignificant that you see as concerning or unnerving?"

- I will now quote you and omit "that you see as"

"Anything seemingly insignificant...concerning or unnerving?"

But as far as I'm concerned people can use them how ever they want. I'm certainly not the grammar police.

Thus endeth the lesson

My regular office hours are... 😛
