I've been called "selfish" because I've chosen not to have kids. I found the insult one of the most narrow-minded and unintelligent comments I think I've ever heard. As if parents thought to themselves: "we don't really want kids, but we are going to have them anyway so they who do not exist, can be born".

Having said that I probably am selfish; I'm mean, if money was no object then perhaps I would have had kids as would have had to think about the financial consequences less.

The more you have the more selfish you are.
We are still trying for a second having just lost another.

But two will be enough - just maintaining the species!
