Just coming up to my pension date and am told my pension will run from the 5th of June! Funny I thought. My birthday is on the 1st. I gave them a call and was informed they only pay out on Mondays. So where has my four days of dosh gone? "It hasn't gone anywhere sir. It just isn't paid out!" Why? "It's just the way it is!"
I wonder how many folk become elegible mid week. I wonder how much doe isn't paid out. Ha! Write to your MP she says. BORIS JOHNSON?🙄 You're having a laugh!
Anyone else been caught? If so, what did you do about it?

for Boris Johnson""
I knew ol' Boris wouldn't let me down or Melissa Crawshay-Williams. If I have to come back please can I not be called either Boris or Melissa?
C'mon guys and gals I need your support. Well . . . may be not your old supports. I have some. email your MPs and tell them about me!

Just because you become eligible on the 1st, it doesn't legally follow that payments commence on the 1st. It all depends on what the law actually says. If it says something like 'each Monday a payment will be made for that week to all those who are eligible', then there is no right to a payment until the 5th. After all, you weren't eligible on the previous Monday.

The state pension in the UK is a disgrace! Our government doesnt give an f about our old people. The state pension is measly and inadequate to deal with the continual rise in the cost of living, whilst the council tax continues to rise. Some of our old people are amongst the poorest in Europe. In some areas of the cities, they have to deal with aggrev ...[text shortened]... give an f. Personally, I find it sickening that this country treats the elderly the way it does.
This is a major issue throughout the Western world. With the baby boomers charging towards retirement, there simply won't be the money available for them all to sit around and demand their 'entitlements'. The base of working people to support them won't be there anymore, because the ratio of working to non-working people will be drastically different.
I'm not sure I see the connection between age, poverty and burglary/muggings though - are you suggesting that richer old people wouldn't get robbed?

Your allowances will jump from £5,035 to £7,280 meaning you can earn £2,245 more than me before you pay tax, HOW FAIR IS THAT?
Also you will now be exempt from NIC.
So if we take two people
Single man aged 35 earning £20,000 will pay £3,034.30 Tax and £1,645.16 NIC leaving him with a net income of £15,320.54
whereas if we assume you earn the same between your state pension, other pensions and a p/t job you will pay £2,540.40 tax, and no NIC leaving you with a net income of £17,459.60.
You are a total of £2,139.06 a year better off.
Yep, you have to feel sorry for the poor pensioners.
Figures obtained from
http://www.listentotaxman.com/index.php?calc=1&year=2006&age=1&add=0&taxcode=&period=1&ingr=20000&Submit=Calculate
Also someone said about the poor state pension paid. When you ocnsider that your basic state pension is £84 per week or £4,368 per year and that someone on £20,000 per year only pays £1,645.16 in NIC contributions which goes towards proving not only you state pension but NHS healthcare as well, the return is not all that bad.
