I suppose if you accomplished nothing in your life you might or perhaps if your "religion" taught that if you do something "wrong" you'll go to hell or maybe even you might not like the idea of death on principal. The point is as sure as you're born it's just a matter of time before you die. LIVE LIFE like each day is your l l that you hope to. I can't believe I just said that. You can't change the inevitable.
I've tried out dying, wasn't all it's cracked out to be. there was no fear, no religional musings let alone light in a tunnel. it was just letting go of life, fading away into emptiness.

Cool...sounds a bit like when I've had surgery but slower. I suspected that that was what it would be like. Thanx for the validation.

The majority of people fear death, or they wouldn't have created the 'concept' of a God and the 'concept' of somewhere to go to afterdeath, namely a heaven! 😉

I fear pain, never ever have I feared death. not even as a small child. I can't even get the concept really. -never had use for gods or afterlife either. maybe that's why?

dentist, getting mugged, needles, waps, vipers, spiders, yeah. death? no way.

Only when the concept of life becomes more uneasy than that of death, do people start topping themselves.

Agreed, not necessarily in that order. Death is certainly low on my order of fears too!

Maybe it's because we don't feel the need to use 'Gods', as such, that death matters little in our priorities. I use Buddhism, yes, but Buddha is not a 'God' - he is an instructor of how to look inwards, and clean oneself for the better of others.

Seems to me that the heavy religious believers fear death more. Maybe that's because, deep down inside, they question their own belief in non-existent entities that are just other people's ideas. 😲... 😛

Using a very sharp knife, slice the jugular on each side of the neck. There are not a whole lot of nerves there, so pain would be minimal, and you'll only be conscious for about a minute and a half.

Bear in mind, what if you changed your mind about what you had done during that minute and a half? Wouldn't that be a frightening, terrible and sad way to go, even if short lived?

when you lose blood flow in the head it's more like 6 seconds to blackout. you go out really really fast.

When we do self-defense in martial arts (cutting off the jugulars with the thumbs), it takes about 30 seconds to start blacking out. I'm making some assumptions about the quality of the cuts, amount of bleeding, etc.

Bottom line: Don't kill yourself unless you're serious. The question asked was how I would do it. That's how I would do it. I have knives sharper than razors where I work, so it would be a quick *cut* *cut* and it's all over.
