Unfortunately the older he got the further up his ass he went: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uV9WlgC5oWo
LOL. That may be the most self-indulgent drummer I've ever seen.

I love Youtube, I've just spent half an hour watching live Zappa clips.

Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) and Tony Royster (no band that I know of, but hella good).

www.drummerworld.com has tons of videos of these guys and many of the others on this list.

Being the huge Beatles fan that I am I have to go with Ringo Starr! Pete didn't fit in with the Beatles the way Ringo did! They wouldn't have had all that success with Pete Best! Pete Best was very different from John, Paul, and George whereas Ringo fit in nicely! So hat's off to Ringo Starr, and happy 66th b-day to John Lennon! R.I.P. John!

I was waiting for Starrman to say Terry Bozzio would be the second best drummer in the world.

Man I don't know... He was a legend in the 70s, nowadays his most noteworthy attributes seem to be that he can tune his drums and that he seems to be friends with Mike Patton. While I was looking up some more info on him I found this interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Page

He was awesome in Baby Snakes, I'll give him that, but today... he's not 2nd best.

Doesn't he have the biggest kit in the world, too?

You'll all probably laugh because these guys are not the most technical drummers around, but i enjoy their style.

Dave Grohl
John Bonham
David Silvera
Raymond Herrera
Vinnie Paul

Vinnie Paul is great, he could probably doublekick all day and keep that mad grin on his face.

Raymond Herrera on the other hand, is possibly not entirely human... he's more of a human/machine hybrid octopus that feeds on the souls of little children.

Bonzo's dead. Bless him.

Dave Grohl's not a drummer. David Silvera's a pinup boy. Never heard of ?uestlove.

The two best drummers who ever existed (or still exist) are Ginger Baker and Keith Moon. Ipso facto, the second best drummer is one of these.

I don't agree. Yes, Pete did not follow John's every demand - he was independent. But, it was Pete who invented that driving, Beatle-type drumming style. Ringo does not even play drums on their first hit (Love Me Do) - he plays tambourine only. George Martin got a session drummer in 'cos Ringo couldn't do it!
