Dull. Can't stand the voice.

Hard to believe The Doors were active in the same decade as The Velvet Underground. How they have dated -- to my ears, to be sure.

Nico should never have even been part of the band.

PS - Nico died twenty years ago, you sicko.

True. As I recall, that was Warhol's idea, and met with a lot of resistance from the band.

Still, she was hot.

Doors deserve some recognition, but I think the word that most aptly describes them is Over-rated. Riders on the Storm--yep. Light my Fire-- classic, sure. Then what?

It's really only a couple songs that sink home..."Hello, I Love You" and "People Are Strange". The rest of their music is mediocre.

Was the music all that great?

The Doors -- for me -- was about the wild 'poet' (The Beatles had better lyrics) and his stooges tinkling along in the background. I can't be bothered with them anymore.
there isn't one beatles lyric that is even remotely close to being as great as anything morrison wrote. i contend that the beatles are probably the most overrated band ever. now the stones, on the other hand...

Bahhh.

The doors are one of the all-time great bands. I bet they have at least 30 songs that are way better than "mediocre"

There are very few bands that have as many good songs as these guys. Most bands have 1 or 2 albums with a couple of good songs and then you never hear from them again.

If they only would've used a bass player. Manzarik was no Jimmy Smith. It made the rhythm section insignificant.

Morrison sounds to me at times like Tom Jones on acid.

The Doors' sound is definitely dated, but it's no less great, IMHO.

A highly amplified Riders on the Storm pulsing through a pair of broken in Boston Acoustics would still be quite satisfying.
