I mentioned in another thread that I view the person across the board not as the enemy, but as my game partner as it were.

Without them I could not play. It's chess. I love to play chess. I would certainly rather lose than not get to play. So I need them - that does not sound like an enemy to me.

Over the board we shake hands before and after the game. Same here - for m ...[text shortened]... Animosity? Something else?

Every game here is a "friendly" - we are not playing for money.
