Is a memory I awoke to in conversation tonight.

The first time I went to USA to work, 1994, in Detroit.... well not city of, but I lived in Royal Oak, I was given a company car - a GrandAM. I was also given tickets to see UB40 at the Fox. I drove, like an innocent Englishman would, to the theater. I got lost on Woodward, about 3 mile. I found a place to park, as I could see the laser light of the venue. I got out of the car and was surrounded.

"We''re mindin' your caar maan!"

I duly obliged and kicked the faccts out of them..

I enjoyed the concert.

I got back to my car, and these 5 white eyed guys were ther and pulled a gun on me!

"You giives uss 200 bucks or we takes your car maaan".

I said, " Look at your mother".... then out came a 64,000 bore shot gun..... I pooed myself......

I gave them my wallet, car keys and got a ride home off them.

Did you ever get a gun pulled on you?

I've been shot at three times, hit once.
I've had weapons drawn on me quite a few times.
I used to do security work when I was going to college.
That and I was a general trouble maker when I was 20-36.

I had a bunch of teenage cholitos pull a fake gun on me in the middle of the night.

I grabbed the gun and started kicking. I was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do!

Unfortunately, despite this, I still couldn't fight. My kicks had no power behind them.

I went into fetal position and they began to lightly beat me up.

Then their gun broke and a car pulled up and they ran away.

I know this dude who is a bit crazy. He had a cig lighter gun and decided to pull it out on the metrolink in Manchester. He pointed it at some black lads and said 'I'm gonna shoot you n*****s, then he pointed it at the driver and said 'Take me to Piccadilly' in an Arnold Shwarzenegger accent. (The tram was going to Piccadilly anyway). When the train landed in the city centre he had an armed response unit waiting for him. He served three months in Strangeways. Damn shame.

In Boston when I was 14. It was a sawed off shotgun. Fortunately my hair covers the scar.
In New Orleans when I was 18 on a city bus. Another sawed off shotgun. Only lost a hundred bucks.

And several more.

I sure hope you're in a safer neighborhood now!

Yup. I was running a roast beef restaurant at the time. Offered him a sandwich, as well as the cash. He wasn't hungry.

Drunkenly walking the streets of St Petersburg, three 'plain clothes policemen' asked to 'inspect' my wallet for drugs. I was having none of it, so one of them got a pistol out to persuade me. For some reason (vodka) I was adamant it was fake, but my companion wisely decided it was better not to have to find out. So they took a look at all the money we had just got out of an ATM, handed it us back(!), took my friend's mobile phone, and off they went.
The phone was broken...

I would guess that the base commander can do just about whatever he wants to do?
