I know at the outset that there are gonna be disagreements but go ahead and tell the RHP world what you think are the greatest movies ever made (and why).
My choices: The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy (although the books are better)
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Brilliant SFX/Story)
The Godfather ('Nuff said)
There are many more but those are the ones that come to mind first.
BTW: Porn doesn't count

I would agree on your first choice (can't wait for them to make a movie on "The restaurant at the end of the galaxy" ), if it wasn't for the even better movie: Big Fish.

People, people did you not see the "why"? It's one thing to say the Warriors was a great movie but what about it deserves the title of "greatest movie ever"? The costumes? The story? The credits?
Shout about your movies' brilliance (Or at least type in CAPS)!!!!!

"Book is better" and "'nuff said" explain perfectly why you like the movies you like. So, I'll use "'nuff said".

I actually wanted my choices to remain in a veil of mystery but if you want reasons, here you go:
Hitchhiker's guide: Very quirky kind of comedy. I never saw anything like it before, a very different take on the sci-fi genre
LOTR: The scale was epic. SFX were out of this world and the casting was perfick. Probably appealed to everyone's inner-elf
Godfather: 'NUFF SAID!!!!

Saw 2 was just plain crap. I for one expected more of it.

Yes, I also disliked that one. It wasn't half as good as the first when you got to know the mastermind behind it all.*

And the ending of the first one was just... ingenius. Can't beat that.

* For those who hasn't seen the movies, and for those who like to criticise grammar, saw 2 is where we got to know the mastermind - effectively removing the whole element of excitement.

Although I did think this whole "time of events"-spin was rather clever.

So of the "real life movies" you have seen, which one was the best?
