Then there's the question of the state funeral. Where will you be having the street party? If you supply the beer I'll bring the bunting!
Frankie Boyle: [On Margaret Thatcher's £3million state funeral] For £3million, they could buy everyone in Scotland a shovel, and we would dig a hole so deep that we could hand her over to Satan personally!

Originally posted by SuzianneI watched it in disbelief. It spent hardly any time at all on the monstrous decisions she made during her leadership and focused more about the poor old dears decline into later years. In short I thought it was a bit poo. I thought that they should have gone all out and shown what she did, warts and all, at least then people would get a better idea of what she was like. I thought they glossed over a lot of the things that in the UK she will be remembered for. It would have been a much stronger film however I'm not sure such a divisive film would have got anywhere near an ocsar nomination so...😛

Originally posted by cadwahHere in the States, she was a contemporary of Ronald Reagan, so those in power made sure to constantly refer to her as a "great ally", so I'm sure the typical American has almost no idea of what really went on behind the front page scenes. I, myself, know very little about her controversial domestic issues. I do get that she's controversial though, and a lot of people in Britain have strong feelings about her, mostly against, or so I've heard.

im dreading the day she dies. if i have to put up with weeks of right wing, nut job political pundits crawling on to t.v. to wax lyrical about how great she was. it will make me go all michael douglas in 'falling down'.
the comment on here about how bad things were before she got in, is already made a vein throb in my forehead.its gonna be stupid comments like that multiplied by a million when she drops dead.if my poor history is correct, germany was in a pretty bad state after the first world war but nobody bangs on about what a smashing job hitler did getting the country on its feet. yet thatcher needs a pat on the back.
i for one is enjoying her loosing her marbles and dignity, long may it continue.
ps.
i wonder if she gets sick of getting all that junk mail and cold calls from energy companies trying to get her to switch.
i wonder if she has ever driven through an old pit* town with its closed shops and run down housing estates and ever felt a tinge of guilt?
im in danger of ranting. ill get off my soap box.
(the word pit can be replaced by mill, textile, car, ship or steel)
