Hey I go again. 😞
I have patches this time. 😏
I really think I can do this. 🙂
Someone bump this one back up in a few months, see if I am still a non smoker. 😛
By the way, buy a new pack of cigarettes, have a buddy stick one up his butt and hide it in the pack. Hang onto the pack at all times. Guaranteed to keep you from smoking them and trains you to resist temptation... unless of course... nah.

I chewed a crap load of Dentene gum for months, and you couldn't look at me for the first month, with out me asking what the hell are you looking at. But I did get through it, and will be having my 5 years of being a non smoker on the 28th of September.

My Dad had smoked for years and had finally quit about 5 years before he suddenly had to have emergency surgery to remove his gall bladder. The anastesiologist commented on how long it took for him to come out from under the drugs and said that it was due to the remaining scar tissue in his lungs so many years later. He said that my father was lucky he had quit smoking when he did, or he might not have made it. You never know when you might unexpectedly need healthy lungs. Start now! You can make it!

It takes 2 minutes for the urge to pass, so you have to get by that first two minutes.
The next day I was in bits... talking to myself,... like I was one of two people, ... the day after I'd given up smoking.
I know that's weird, but that's how I cracked it.
Just don't have one, deal with the weirdness... I've smoked a couple since and they feel odd in my fingers now, (I've smoked for most of my life)

Originally posted by RoostyYes, it is a hard battle for sure to try and quit...I had smoked a very long time my self 30+ years, and started with the odd cig at around 13, and didn't really smoke really heavy untill into my 30's as I was quite active in sports, hockey & baseball into mid 30's.

I was getting a burning sensation in the chest, and said ok it is time to quit. I can't believe what a big difference it made in my breathing, and also energy. I had made half attempts before, such as cutting back, but the only way to go is cold turkey in my opinion. I never used a patch, but some do find they help them, some end up smoking with the patch on.
I believe when all is said and done, you have to be really ready to quit, and want to do it more than anything else. I even hate the smell of cigarette smoke now, and can not handle standing next to someone who is smoking.

Smoking kills and this is the best decision you've made. Evah!
Should it not happen this time, though, check Pfizer's new pill to assist smokers in the process of quitting. I've heard good things about it.
