Not looking forward to the coverage of the olympic games in Oz for 2 reasons:
1. Firstly there coverage is extremely biased, where they only show events that they do well in. In the commonwealth games you would have thought they were the only nation to have won medals. So expecting similar viewing this time around. I'm all for supporting and reporting local success but the Olympics is bigger than one nation.
2. Secondly in the last 2 weeks all we have been hearing in the media is will Athens be able to hold as great as games as Sydney...... yawn..... bore.... blah. Yes you held a good games, but that was 4 years ago. Let Athens have the limelight, its there games!! Oz just cant help themselves and have to make a comp out of everything.

I'm hoping to finnally see decent coverage of equestrian and fencing, as they have been lacking in previous televised olympics.
NPR was talking about Olympic coverage yesterday. They indicated that NBC is going into 24hours coverage with its many channels (mostly cable).
In addition to NBC, they will be broadcasting on CNBC, MSNBC, BRAVO and USA Network.
Checking the NBC Olympic site (and digging some) -
* Equestrian will be broadcast on BRAVO and USA mostly. During the day. Individual Jumping Gold Medal Final will be on NBC (again during the day).
* Fencing will be seen on CNBC, BRAVO and MSNBC only.
Of course, this is only relevant to those with United States cable access.
For some folks, web streaming may be an option: not sure if that will cover more non-mainstream sports or not, but it might.
Coverage is patchy, sometimes free, sometimes not.

I suspect this has a lot to do with the marketing of the games: its all money now, and the big TV/Media firms are the ones really in control. Fortunately for the brits, that means the BBC, so in the UK, its free!
I like to watch the events that I used to compete in in school and obviously the events that I think SA athletes will do well in.
Here we have 8 dedicated olympic channels, a highlights channel and an interactive channel (if you have satellite - which I don't - GRRR)
I always like to watch the olympics. It's nice to see the nations of the world competing on equal foot.
Well.. this solves the question - looks like we gave it more thought then those planning the event -
"Greece, because of its links to the ancient games, will enter first, as usual. But, as the host nation, Greek athletes will also be the last into the stadium in the biggest procession in Olympic history."

I still haven't got over the opening ceremony... the procession got to a bit when the commentator said, "The women clothed" [at this point a women started stripping off but was quickly out of camera shot] "and the men naked" [so the men had flesh coloured body stockings on and to complete the illusion of nakedness they each had a little 'bunch' stuck on in the appropriate place..] LOL!
And as for Bjork! Where was Nana Miscouri or Demis Roussos when they where needed 😉
I also kept channel hopping during the parade of atheletes hoping to catch our team which I presumed woud be in the 'U's for United Kingdom... it semed to be going in alpabetical order thriugh the 'T's with Tonga and Turky etc... then suddenly they threw in a D and a C...
Anyway I missed our team... did we end up as Great Britain perhaps? If so were they in the 'G's or the 'B's?
