What's the take of we chess heads on all that running and jumping about?
Quality not-to-be-missed entertainment, or backround musac?

I'm hoping to finnally see decent coverage of equestrian and fencing, as they have been lacking in previous televised olympics.

Im leaving later today and will be seeing some of the stadium events and basketball live 😀

Should be a brilliant atmosphere in the stadium and generally around Athens - I cant wait 🙂

That's what I was thinking. And I'm not even English (and anyone who thinks the "UK" team isn't English hasn't heard the BBC commentary).

He was utterly splendid. What an achievement. A nice lad by all accounts too. The entire pub was watching. Which is where I saw most of the olympics that I saw. (I'm writing a lot of odd sentances lately). It makes MUCH better pub TV than soap operas.

You know, I look forward to the sport of it all (except syncronized diving - um, no thanks) ... what I can do without though - is all the "human interest" stuff that the networks throw in there.

A lot of the time, I just want to say "enough!" and bring on the games.

Interesting note - Guesses welcomed - In honor of the first Olympics, Greece always leads the parade of nations. However, hosting nation always CLOSES the parade (marching in last).

Any guesses on how they'll handle this?! Will Greece walk in first AND last? Last only? First only?

I guess they'll split roles, with the greek olympic team doing one, and the greek football team doing the other.

Yes, perhaps - I'd forgotten how great the footie team did, it would be nice to see them honored.

Well, guess I'll just have to wait until Friday evening to be certain.

NBC is broadcasting opening ceremonies from 8-12midnight.

Athens is 7 hours ahead of me (East Coast US) so I am assuming they will be tape delayed.

It is already on ESPN and NBC so way waste money on it to get special Olympic channels. And no not handycap.

I still have visions of the Brazilian women's team from the last Olympics. 😵
