Track 2 from _Misplaced Childhood_
Do you remember, chalk hearts melting on a playground wall?
Do you remember, dawn escaped from moonwashed college halls?
Do you remember, the cherry blossom in the market square?
Do you remember, I thought it was confetti in our hair
By the way didn't I break your heart?
Please excuse me, I never meant to break your heart.
So sorry I never meant to break your heart.
But you broke mine.
Kayleigh is it too late to say I'm sorry.
Kayleigh could we get it together again.
I can't go on pretending that it came to a natural end.
Kayleigh I never thought I'd miss you,
and Kayleigh I'd hoped that we'd always be friends.
We said our love would last forever,
so how did it come to this bitter end.
Do you remember, barefoot on the lawn with shooting stars
Do you remember, loving on the floor in Belsize Park
Do you remember, dancing in stilletos in the snow
Do you remember, you never understood I had to go.
By the way, didn't I break your heart ?
Please excuse me I never meant to break your heart
So sorry, I never meant to break your heart,
But you broke mine.
Kayleigh, I just want to say I'm sorry,
but Kayleigh I'm too scared to pick up the phone.
To find you've found another lover to patch up our broken home.
Kayleigh, I'm still trying to write that love song,
Kayleigh it's more important to me now you're gone.
Maybe it'll prove that we were right
Or it will prove that I was wrong.

Snippets from Radiohead:

'When i am king you will be first against the wall' - Paranoid Android

'That's it sir you're leaving
The crackle of pigskin
The dust and the screaming
The yuppies networking
the final divide
the final divide
god loves his children
god loves his children
yeah' - Paranoid Android

'I'm on a roll
I'm on a roll this time
- i feel my luck could change...
The head of state
Has called for me by name
- but i don't have time for him' - Lucky

'A heart that's full up like a landfill
A job that slowly kills you
Bruises that won't heal
You look so tired unhappy
Bring down the government
They don't, they don't speak for us' - No Surprises

Howdy. I just seen this thread, thought I'd share too. Hope you all don't mind if I put something "original" here, I'm a singer/songwriter/guitarist.

Life's Better Now
Mark A. McMullen

(Verse 1)
Chills of elation, rushin' thru her veins,
her truck 'celleratin' down the passin' lane...
mama done told her,"girl don't ya go,
those boys in the city just can't take it slow"...

(Chorus)
Life's better now, no second guess,
one foot a tappin' one steppin' on the gas,
Whew! Country girl! Daddy's little angel,
ya got this thang about flirt'n with the devil,
country baby,wild eye Filly,
yer gonna drive them city boys...
dang near crazy....

(Verse 02)
Wilted sunflower, dryin' on the dash,
small crescent moon on the cheek of her...mmm
radio fades from a slow country song,
to the HARD rockin' rhythm of Stevie Ray Vaughan

And whacha gonna do when the thrill is thru,
and your heart's been broke a dozen times or two,
you see that star hangin'...in the southern sky,
just pack up your bags and make that pickup fly....

(Chorus)
And ya keep singin',
Life's better now, no second guess...
one foot a tappin' one steppin' on the gas,
Whew! Country girl! Daddy's little angel,
ya got this thang about flirt'n with the devil,
country baby wild eye Filly,
yer gonna drive them city boys...
dang near crazy....

"Sand" By Phish (of course)

If you can heal the symptoms
But not affect the cause
It's quite a bit like trying to heal
A gunshot wound with gauze

If you instead attempt to wrest
The pistol from the hand
Then I would not be able to
Equate my life with sand

Flowing through the hourglass
Pushing through the funnel
Turn once more while racing
All your siblings for the tunnel

Slide and let the silicone
Embrace you as you fall
Then bounce and land you let
Your brothers crush you to the wall

I would choose my own religion
And worship my own spirit
But if he ever preached to me
I wouldn't want to hear it

I'd drop him, a forgotten god,
Languishing in shame
And then if I hit stormy seas
I'd have myself to blame

*in case you missed it in the "longest" thread*

i'm losing my edge.
yeah, i'm losing my edge. the kids are coming up from behind.
i'm losing my edge to the kids from france and from london.

but i was there.
i was there in 1968. i was there at the first can show in cologne.

i'm losing my edge.
i'm losing my edge to the kids whose footsteps i hear when they get on the decks.
i'm losing my edge to the internet seekers who can tell me every member of every good group from 1962 to 1978.
i'm losing my edge to all the kids in tokyo and in berlin.
i'm losing my edge to the art school brooklynites in little jackets and borrowed nostalgia from the unremembered '80s.
i'm losing my edge.
i'm losing my edge.

but i was there.
i was there in 1974. the first suicide practices in a loft in new york city. i was working on the organ sounds with much patience.
i was there when captain beefheart started up his first band. i told him, don't do it that way, you'll never make a dime.
i was there. i was the first guy playing daft punk to the rock kids. i played it at cbgb's. everyone thought it was crazy.
we all know i was there.
i was there.
i've never been wrong. i used to work at a record store. i had everything before anyone.
i was there at the paradise garage dj booth with larry levan.
i was there in jamaica during the great sound clashes.
i woke up naked on a beach in ibiza in 1988.
but i'm losing my edge to better looking people with better ideas and more talent. and who are actually really, really nice.

i'm losing my edge.

i heard you have a compilation of every good song ever done by anybody. every great song by the beach boys. all the underground hits. all the modern lovers tracks.
i heard you have a vinyl of every niagara record on german imports.
i heard that you have a white label of every seminal detroit techno hit from 1985, 86, 87.
i heard that you have a CD compilation of every good 60s cut. and another box set for the 70s.
i hear you're buying a synthesizer and an arpeggiator and you're throwing your computer out the window because you want to make something real. you want to make a yazz record.
i hear that you and your band have sold your guitars and bought turntables.
i hear that you and your band have sold your turntables and bought guitars.
i hear everybody that you know is more relevant than everybody that i know.

i'm losing my edge.

"Look What You've Done"

Take my photo off the wall
If it just won't sing for you
'Cause all that's left has gone away
And there's nothing there for you to prove

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
Oh well, it seems likes such fun
Until you lose what you had won

Give me back my point of view
'Cause I just can't think for you
I can hardly hear you say
What should I do, well you choose

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
Oh well, it seems likes such fun
Until you lose what you had won

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
A fool of everyone
A fool of everyone

Take my photo off the wall
If it just won't sing for you
'Cause all that's left has gone away
And there's nothing there for you to do

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
Oh well, it seems likes such fun
Until you lose what you had won

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
A fool of everyone
A fool of everyone

"I never seen you lookin' so bad my funky one......"

----

"Like a Sunday in TJ, that it's cheap but it's not free...."

----

"I cruise like a viper through these suburban streets,
make love to these women, languid and bitter sweet"

----

"I seen your pin shot, your name in lights above it,
this is your big debut, it's like a dream come true"

----

"Hey nineteen, now we got nothin' in common (we can't dance), no we can't talk at all"

Hmmm...

Charlie Freak had but one thing to call his own
Three weight ounce pure golden ring no precious stone
Five nights without a bite
No place to lay his head
And if nobody takes him in
He'll soon be dead
On the street he spied my face I heard him hail
In our plot of frozen space he told his tale
Poor man, he showed his hand
So righteous was his need
And me so wise I bought his prize for chicken feed
Newfound cash soon begs to smash a state of mind
Close inspection fast revealed his favorite kind
Poor kid, he overdid
Embraced the spreading haze
And while he sighed his body died
In fifteen ways
When I heard I grabbed a cab to where he lay
'Round his arm the plastic tag read D.O.A.
Yes Jack, I gave it back
The ring I could not own
Now come my friend I'll take your hand
And lead you home

Time, by Pink Floyd, lyrics by Roger Waters

Ticking away, the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today
And then one day you find
ten years have got behind you
no-one told you when to run -
you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run
to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
and racing around to come up behind you again
the sun is the same in the relative way
but you're older
shorter of breath, and one day closer to death

every year is getting shorter
never seem to find the time
plans that either come to naught
or half a page of scribbled lines
hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
the time is gone the song is over
thought i'd something more to say...

You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need
You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you’re on the street
You got to be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight
You've got to strike when the moment is right without thinking.

And after a while, you can work on points for style
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake
A certain look in the eye, and an easy smile
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to
So that when they turn their backs on you
You’ll get the chance to put the knife in.

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder
You know it’s going to get harder; harder and harder as you get older
And in the end you’ll pack up, fly down south
Hide your head in the sand
Just another sad old man
All alone and dying of cancer.

And when you loose control, you’ll reap the harvest you have sown
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone
And it’s too late to loose the weight you used to need to throw around
So have a good drown, as you go down alone
Dragged down by the stone.

I gotta admit that I’m a little bit confused
Sometimes it seems to me as if I’m just being used
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake of this creeping malaise
If I don’t stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze?

Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone’s expendable and no-one had a real friend
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
And you believe at heart, everyone’s a killer.

Who was born in a house full of pain
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel
Who was fitted with collar and chain
Who was given a seat in the stand
Who was breaking away from the pack
Who was only a stranger at home
Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by the stone.

everyone i went to high school with is dead
by mr. bungle

another summer rolls by
and i can't help but feel pain
all those familiar faces
come back to haunt me again
whether i hated their guts
or hardly knew them at all
i always felt far away
beside them there in the halls

my yearbook keeps me informed
my yearbook keeps me in line
it's an obituary
gives me a concept of time
we've graduated and grown
from a real world once our own
yet we have proven them wrong
by dropping off all along

Idioteque

Who's in a bunker, who's in a bunker?
Women and children first
and the children first
and the children
I laugh until my head comes off
Swallow until I burst
Until I burst
Until I...
Who's in a bunker, who's in a bunker?
I have seen to much
You haven't seen enough
You haven't it
I laugh until my head comes off
Women and children first
And children first
And the children

Here I'm alive
Everything all of the time
Here I'm alive
Everything all of the time

Ice age comin'
Ice age comin'
Let me hear both sides
Let me hear both sides
Let me hear both
Ice age comin'
Ice age comin'
Throw 'em in the fire
Throw 'en in the fire
Throw 'em on
We're not scare-mongering
This is really happening, happening
We're not scare-mongering
This is really happening, happening
Mobiles squirking
Mobiles chirping
Take the money and run
Take the money and run
Take the money

Here I'm alive
Everything all of the time
Here I'm alive
Everything all of the time
Here I'm alive
Everything all of the time
Here I'm alive
Everything all of the time

The first of the children
The first of the children

"Presto" By Rush

if I could wave my magic wand...

I am made from the dust of the stars
and the oceans flow in my veins
here I hide in the heart of the city
like a stranger coming out of the rain

the evening plane rises up from the runway
over constellations of light
I look down into a million houses
and wonder what you're doing tonight

if I could wave my magic wand
I'd make everything all right

I'm not one to believe in magic
But I sometimes have a second-sight
I'm not one with a sense of proportion
When my heart still changes overnight

I had a dream of a winter garden
a midnight rendezvous
silver, blue, and frozen silence
what a fool I was for you

I had a dream of the open water
I was swimming away out to sea
so deep I could never touch bottom
what a fool I used to be

if I could wave my magic wand
I'd set everybody free

I'm not one to believe in magic
Though my memory has a second-sight
I'm not one to go pointing my finger
When I radiate more heat than light

don't ask me
I'm just improvising
my illusion of careless flight
can't you see
my temperature's rising
I radiate more heat than light

don't ask me
I'm just sympathizing
my illusions a harmless flight
can't you see my temperature's rising
I radiate more heat than light
