It could have been worse of course. If you had said American football I would have told you that it too was 'A game created one day by public school boys (definately not poofs???) who were tired of the rules of football and decided to cheat. 'I know' one thought, I'll just pick it up and run with it!' except I would have added some yank saying 'I can't deal with all this running about, can't we just pass it forward?'

I've got a friend who absolutely detests rugby and thinks the referee in that game should have blown his whistle, said "Handball, free kick" and saved us all a lot of grief.

more people are expected to watch this worldwide than for any other sporting event, making it the most popular, more so than the olympics and certainly alot more so than the superbowl.

I would enjoy the world cup a lot more if they would actually buy a decent one. I mean it is such a small cup. I have coffee mugs that are bigger. You would think they could afford something nicer than what came out of a Cracker Jack Box. 😴

I'm American and have been watching the World Cup since before you were born. Beckenbauer and Deutchland defeating the Netherlands and Johan Cruyff in '74 was the first one I watched and I haven't missed one since.

As a matter of fact, I'm watching the World Cup as we speak, with England dazzling us with a spectacular goal, oh wait, that was an own-goal, to take the lead 1-0 over that world power Paraquay.
