Whoosh ... Radically changing the subject ...
Hey Nordlys, ark and I were wondering, why aren't there any High School or Colleges that use a Walrus as their mascot? Like the "East Icebergville Fighting Walri" or some such. I've certainly never come across any.
What about in Norway - might there be some there? Do schools over there have mascots or is that a stupid American idea? Maybe I'll check the web for High Schools in Alaska.
Originally posted by RookRAKI don't think Norwegian schools have mascots. At least I have never heard about it.

Originally posted by NordlysProbably a good idea, as mascots are pretty silly.

I did a quick search through Alaskan High School; lots of Grizzlies, Huskies, and Wolves, even a few Cardinals, but no Walri. Ark won't be happy that nobody wants to play on a team that represents the humble walrus.
I did find something that made me laugh - one school had a web site with the slogan
"Where Learning Becomes a Reality"
Does that actually mean anything?
Originally posted by NordlysSo the implication is that "learning is an illusion" at all the other schools? I think illusory learning is very different from not learning. In illusory learning you *think* you've learned but you haven't.
I guess it means that you (allegedly) really learn something at that school.
By the way, you might like the logo of Longyearbyen School: http://www.lybskole.no/ 🙂
Nice logo.
