But what is concioussness? What is it to be "aware" of something? After all, there is never nothing. And if it is there and swirling around, then we must in some way be "aware" of it. Otherwise, it wouldn't be on our minds.
Conciousness is more difficult to define as it is not directed at anything in particular. To be concious is to be aware. You can be concious of nothing, meaning that you're aware that nothing is there. But you'll find I take a determinist and mechanical standpoint to the world. Why do we perceive things? Our eyes receive light and send electrical signals to our brain. What is thought? Electrical and chemical functions of the brain. The brain is but an organ. There is no soul; everything that can have an affect on matter is made of matter.
