Threads Moving? New Religion Forums?

I might move a couple or at least one thread back to debates.

I fear if we had a new religion forums... some would come to pick on posters. If ever there does come a religion forums... those posts would be removed (if it were up to me / it is not).

Seems to me anyone who wants to talk about religion is asking for a debate... but they don't want to hear it. They just want to talk about there beliefs with others who agree... not be debated all day.

Is that the problem?? Any better solutions.... am I missing something?????????????

Please, feedback on this topic if you have problems one way or the other... while I talk with some other RHP mods about it. If you don't say anything, don't complain about decisions made by RHP.

Yes, there is a definate need for a seperate "Religions" board. This has been like a cancer infecting this site for the last 6 months. I find it quite distateful to be honest, it is very confrontational and many of the normal threads are being continually highjacked by religious angles.

This used to be a happy welcoming place, then religion was allowed to creep in...

Move it to the debates forum. That's what the debates forum is all about, it was created to move all the religious bickering out of the general forum.

Sure,but people is tired to read everyday about religion in a chess site.
I never seen anything like this on
ICC,Gameknot,chessbase,chessgames or whatever..............

First, all of you do a great job here at TFC (or RHP for the others :-)

As for religious debates - It seems that some people post them just to start an argument. Not EVERYONE mind you, but certainly some. I have found it impossible to discuss religion with almost anyone. That's why I don't do it here. It detiorates into an argument about questioning someone's faith. And then logic and reason hold hands and jump out of the nearest window. Never to be seen again.

On the other hand I don't like members being told they can't post on a particular topic. So maybe a religion only board is the answer? For now I say keep the religious stuff in the debates forum. That's how it's gonna end up anyway. As just one big old debate.

I don't have a problem with religious threads in the debtaes forum. I agree. Like I said that's where they're gonna end up anyway. Just one big old fight.

But maybe a religion only forum would put all of them in one place and probably, as someone mentioned in another post, help get rid of them. If not then at least they're isolated to one place.

Well .. at least we can be sure that this topic belongs in the debates forum.

As for the religious topics. To me it is clear that some religious topics are indeed invitattions to debate religion, faith et cetera. The two topics opened by RBHill containing lectures (spam) about Christian religion is NOT an invitation to debate.

I dare go further in stating that It is spam, like the messages from my reallife mailbox, email and the occasional Jehova's witness at my frontdoor.

As far as I know the forum is not a billboard with a purpose to commerce goods, wheather they are physical or mental goods. Discussing religion belongs in the debatesforum; thats why the debatesforum was created.

Spam ... like the two topics earlier mentioned should be closed and deleted .. why? Because its comparable with people posting Nazi, Muslim, communist, anarchist or globalist propaganda.... it is propaganda ... spam.

Before we know it people will start to post Exxon commercials in the forums ... please let us refrain form that.
