If we need to quarantine religious posts, I think it would only be fair
to also cordon off a section of our forum space to devote to those
posts and threads concerned solely with the giving and receiving of
cookies.

Well, the actual point I was trying to make is that there is
nothing particular about RBHILL-style posts that warrant
singling them out as a special case. If we are going to
single those out, then we must single many others out.
But I hardly think any of this is necessary. The forum
categories are broadly defined and should be able to
accommodate all sorts of sub-topics, not to mention that
religious discussion is one of the very topics that the
debate forum advertises.

So it seems to me that one would move to ban the
giving and receiving of cookies, which is not part of the
forum description, before banning religious discussion,
which is.

certainly yes...I suggested a separate forum with a little sarcasm. I only wish that everybody would be able to debate intelligently, using evidence to suport their argument rather than using slander and empty rhetoric to get points across. puting others down accomplishes nothing...save for insightment.

I am a skeptic who enjoys the give and take of theological debate. I have had informal verbal debates with several believers over the years, and they have never persuaded me that I was wrong, nor have I persuaded them that they were wrong. So to the degree that most adults seem to have crystallized their thoughts on theology, it can be said that such debates are pretty much futile. But should they be banned from the site? Nah. I don't even mind it if one's purpose for posting is to proselytize rather than to engage in debate.

Hi Phlabibit. I have found the same thing you have, but from the other side. I find that when I make a religious point, then people who disagree are equally uninterested to listen to my point.

There are a number of people that I have seen who have this "in principal" problem with any religious point. If you don't like it, ignore it or don't read it.
