Time Outs

When I logged in to the site today I got somewhat of a shock.
My rating had decreased with nearly 150 points. The reason for
this was that I had lost 6 games due to time out.
Of course I got really disappointed. I couldn't believe it at first.
The six games I had lost must have been timed out only for a few
hours. In one of the games I had won my opponent's queen.
Obviously there are people on this site who are very hungry for
points and who don't even bother of sending a reminder when a
game is timed out. My reaction was that I immediately claimed
wins in all of my games where I had that option.
Right now I feel like continuing claiming wins whenever I get the
chance and not sending any reminders to my opponents.

See my post under 'site ideas' for my comment on how some of this
problem could be solved. But one other comment I would have is why
start more games than you have time to play. At one time you had
159 games in process. 159 games at one time!! Apparently that is
more games than you can keep up with!

Come on Amnell. You can rise above this shit. You are a better
player than most on this site, and having played you I know you play
on regardless of whether you are winning or in trouble, not like some I
could name. Play on, don't let it get to you.

OK, I have calmed down now and realized that I am not a
simultaneous chess player. You're right, 159 games was more than
I could keep up with. I have changed the setting for maximum
concurrent games to 50 and promised myself not to start any new
games before I'm under that limit. :-)

I'm not at your level of play and I'm about to up your rating on a
couple of games :-) but I do love the game. It is a very hard for me
not to start more games that I can play as well. After all, I just want to
start two games more than I'm already playing. :-)

as one of those who claimed time out against you:i did so not for the
points (dont need them and i dont play chess for them)but as a
protest to you that three times i have sent reminders to you on
different moves and grew tried of waiting for your move on the very
last hour before timeout so i waited and the clock ticked and you didnt
move as agreed.so i claimed. i publically invited anyone to play.you
accepted. i was only starting 1230 when you accepted the game.in the
time that the game had run ive made nearly 1000 moves and only 10
to you.my message to you ammell and to others: if you personally
dont have the time to play then please dont accept game offers.!
and!!!! by the way........the night i claimed time out against you....you
were logged in and making moves against others....then you went
off... WITHOUT.. making a move against me. was the game too hard
for you!! or you couldnt be bothered to make a move.as i personally
know some of the others who claimed against you: also share the
same grieveance. as you used this post to complain: so i use this
post to defend my actions. ( grabbing points NO WAY! )
