UncleAdam is correct, the Cubs won in 1908.

I don't know what you're thinking of. The National League started in 1876. They considered themselves the only true league for years and shunned the other upstart leagues, like the Player's League, the Union League, the Federal League, etc. The American League started in 1901. The National League ignored them for the first two years as well, but finally relented in 1903 and played the first World Series.

I just love the Americans...... What do we call the competition when two leagues play off to see who has the best baseball side ??

Well........ The World Series of course.

I mean God invented guns, created Texas and then the rest of America. Before he created the rest of the Universe.

So naturally two American baseball sides playing each other must mean the World contest for the best Baseball side.

Cubs did indeed last win in 1908. The Red Sox last won in 1918. In that Series they defeated the Cubs in 6 games! Okay baseball fans, continuing our Fall Cassic trivia....Who was the winning pitcher for the Red Sox in game one of the 1918 Fall Classic?

PS. I'll call it the Fall Classis in defference to Trekkie's observation about the nature of the Series. Even though it's been called that since it started When the world was a lot smaller and no other countries were playing the game!!

There are a couple of Aussies playing...one is a pitcher...can't think of his name...pretty decent player, though...

There will be a day when the Phillies beat the Marlins.....

Of course by then the Red Sox and Cubs will have both won world series and the Yankees will have moved.....
