How about the meteor/asteroid that hit the Earth 65 million years ago?
I bet that shook the earth.....
asteroid was peanuts compared to the mars sized planet that whacked the earth about 4 billion years ago that ended up creating the moon.
Now THAT definitely shook the world.
But in the thread context, I think you are more thinking what shook the HUMAN world.
being resonable within the last 10,000 years i would say the top five actual events, not general trends like the industrial or agricultural revolution, are, in no particular order
the crusifiction of Christ
the atomic bombing of Japan
the moon landing
the development of the printing press
aristotles publishment and eventual proof that we are not the center of the universe
I agree that 9/11 is no where in the top 100,000. conceited americans. especially because the more liberal believe that the 9/11 attacks was engineered by the Bush diplomacy to justify a war against the middle east. The world wars as well were generally insignificant with the exception of the public release of atomic energy. any one persons death, with the exception of christ, is also insignificant, including lincoln, di, JFK, or Martin King.

Those were things which certainly shocked the world,I don't know in what order of importance however......

Also how in the hell can World War 2 be insignificant if you claim that part of it (Hiroshima and Nagisaki) is one of the top 5?

Also, 9/11 was a conspiracy! Tell your friends.

and the moon walk I agree is maybe not in the top five i just couldn't think of a better one. but it convinced majority of the people for the first time of the possibility of humans existing elsewhere besides this planet. I think that bigger than a war which simply dictates who controls which natural resources and what societal and cultural values will be accepted.
I shouldn't even be on here! I've got a train to catch.
But as far as I can tell, the only thing that ever REALLY shook the world was the asteroid that crashed near the coast of Mexico.

Not only did it exterminate the major life-forms of the planet, but a rock that size colliding with a rock the size of the Earth would have had a good chance of actually shaking the planet around a bit...
