Why not just post the top 5 straight away, and let us debate them?
In my opinion, the Agricultural Revolution HAS to be the number 1 "moment" that shook the world.

Agricultural Revolution + Industrial Revolution they kind of go together.
You can't have the Industrial Revolution without the Agricultural Revolution, so aggi is number 1.
Can anybody tell me when the agricultural revolution ended, btw? It started about 10,000 years ago.

I agree
while it was a sad event, US propaganda made it seem much more horrible than it really is. If you look at the big picture it was rather insignificant. That many people die every few minutes around the world.
Originally posted by ElleEffSeeeFair enough. We're only allowed to post things that were 1 moment long. Got it! Strange though that 9/11 was a whole day long. Surely, that disqualifies that as well.

It succeeded in throwing the american public into pandemonium for a short while. But it wasnt earth-shattering enough to be in the top 5. Look at when A-bombs were dropped on Japan. The effects of that can still be seen today over 60 years later.
Originally posted by ElleEffSeeeYou think the fall of the most powerful civilisation on earth didn't shake it, it lasted hundreds of years. The Roman Empire has had a larger percent of the world’s population then say the American. Ok for the date the day Rome burned. Now the media might not have been so advanced but the effects where massive.

There's a real bad case of WASP anthropcentrism running around here 😛 However....
Very interesting to see what such a fuzzy hook can catch... Fire, the birth of pre-historic city-states, religion, the printing press & atomic science. Jury's still out big time on Global Warming but it's a biggie!!! 😲
