Originally posted by rbmorrisActually I think he'd be pretty surprised to be that high. By his own admission he was a damn lazy guitarist, often not picking it up for months and only doing so 4 days before a tour started. That clearly shows he had amazing talent (both in guitar and his outstanding musicality), but as an actual technical guitarist I don't think he should really be that high.
I have major issues with Frank Zappa being #37, below Eric Clapton, George Harrison, The Edge, Joe Perry, John Fogerty...etc.
Terrible list.
The list is indeed awful.
Oh and THE EDGE!!!!!!!???????? You have got to be kidding me! I play better than him when I'm drunk.
Originally posted by rbmorrisAgreed. I'd put Zappa in the top two or three, just for "Black Napkins".

Where are Trey Anastasio, Robert Fripp, Marc Ribot, Rory Gallagher, Tom Verlaine and other practitioners of true weirdness and badassery? If they're going to include mere metal technicians, where's Luca Turilli?
A more interesting list would be a list of the best guitarist pairs.
Finally, why is Bruce Springsteen on any complimentary list?

Agreed. I'd put Zappa in the top two or three, just for "Black Napkins".

he does a good impression of a guitar solo but it always gets dreary after a minute or so, he is an great artist but not a real musician.
It's Q107, of course it's a joke. I am absolutely SHOCKED that they didn't have David Wilcox or the guitarist from Helix in the top ten. (Although I see they didn't forget to leave out the amazing Kim Mitchell! *puke*).
Honestly, that radio station is the worst. They have been repeating the same playlist every day for the past 20 years. And it's the only station where you can hear the absolute worst that Canadian rock has to offer on a continuous basis. It's funny they even put Zappa on the list, as the only time I've ever heard them play Zappa is the radio edit version of "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" at 3 a.m. on a Sunday night about five years ago (That is not a joke).
In the words of the mighty Rob Crow:
I never listen to the radio
But if they want to play our stuff that's okay with me.
They don't play Slint on the radio
They don't play Sentridoh
They don't play Zappa
They don't play Beefheart
They don't play Can
They don't play The Residents
They don't even play The Velvet Underground
Ronaldo and the Loaf
or Bongos Bass and Bob
They don't play Wesley Willis, oh no (nuh uh)
They don't play The Shaggs, oh no (nope! nope! nuh uh)
They don't play Staccato Reeds, oh no (nuh uh)
Sometimes they will play Devo.

come on people, im a zappa fan myself but a great guitarist he is not.

I have just filed your name in the 'throw rotten tomatoes at if we ever meet' category.
